BRAINTREE, MA (August 2018) – The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) at the Archdiocese of Boston has been hard at work preparing lots of exciting professional development opportunities for our teachers and leaders. While many people assume that the individuals who work in schools have the summers off, the reality is that educators often take time during the summer to improve their practices and add to their professional toolboxes through quality professional development.
With this in mind, the CSO has done a lot of work to ensure that there are many opportunities available this summer and during the upcoming school year. Superintendent Kathy Mears remarked, “Since last year our team has been planning the professional development that is being rolled out this summer. We were very mindful to provide opportunities based on the requests we have received from our teachers and leaders.”
Already this summer we have had hands-on offerings around technology, English Language Learners, and Orton-Gillingham Certification. Several of our sessions have also qualified for professional development points that teachers can apply toward their license renewal with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In the upcoming weeks, we will have many more offerings for school leaders and teachers. The two most anticipated events are the Leadership Kick-off on August 9 and the Summer Catholic Teacher Workshop on August 15-16.
Here are the exciting opportunities available during the month of August:
